William H. Salgado is married, and a proud father of three children, all whom attended New York City public Schools, and are now college graduates.William H. Salgado is an attorney who has been in practice for more than thirty years protecting in court the rights of his clients.
William H. Salgado has been a community activist also for more than thirty years. In 1995, he demanded that the political representation of the Jackson Heights, Elmhurst, Corona area reflect the population that lives in the area. William’s pioneering efforts led to the election of the first Latino elected official in Queens in 2000. Since then, there have been many other Latino elected officials. Today, it would be unthinkable that the area of Jackson Heights, Elmhurst and Corona would not have a Latino elected official. The door for all of these elected officials was opened by William H. Salgado.
In 2018, William H. Salgado was the only Democratic leader in Queens to endorse Alexandria Ocasio Cortez.
In 1995, William H. Salgado founded the Panamerican Democratic Club. The Panamerican has served as the instrument of William’s activism in Democratic politics. One of William’s first initiatives was to promote naturalization in order to politically empower local residents . Concurrently, William launched a voter registration campaign that encouraged many people to take interest in community and political affairs.
William H. Salgado was a former member Community board 3, Jackson Heights.

Currently William is the elected Democratic District Leader from the 39th Assembly District, Part B.
